Instructor Vince was born and raised in Kalihi, an area of Honolulu, on the Island of Oahu.
He grew up in a poor and rough part of town, between the infamous Kuhio Park Terrace (KPT)
and the Kam Fourth Housing Projects. In order to protect himself, he began his martial arts
training at the early age of 9 with the Japan International Karate Center.
His passion and the discipline that he learned from the martial arts lead him on a mission
to find the complete self-defense system. Instructor Vince trained in Aikido and Tao Kung-fu,
before finding the system that best tailored to his abilities. In 1992, he enrolled at the
Universal Kempo Karate Schools Association Kaimuki Branch on the island of Oahu.
Not only did he learn effective self-defense and increased his physical fitness levels,
he learned humility and the true meaning of the Aloha Spirit.
In 1998, Instructor Vince moved to the State of Washington and continued his kempo
training at the
Lake Hills Branch in Bellevue under Chief Instructor Corey Marr.
Also during that time, he studied and trained in the Filipino combative art of Arnis.
In 2003, and with the blessings of Grand Master Martin T. Buell,
Instructor Vince opened the Universal Kempo Karate Schools Association's Bothell Branch in the State of Washington.
The Bothell Branch received the "Most Outstanding School Award" in 2005, 2006 and 2007
at the Annual Universal Aloha Spirit Martial Arts Seminar in Las Vegas, NV.
Instructor Vince is blessed and fortunate to have Dwight Osborn, 2nd Degree; Rob Hughes, 1st Degree; student Black Belt; Alex Fay.
